Privea Partners, a private capital advisory firm specializing in equity and debt raises between 2 million and 25 million, says many profitable mid-market businesses across Europe continue to face significant challenges in securing growth capital, despite strong operating performance.

According to the firm, the financing gap is not the result of short-term market conditions but reflects structural changes in both institutional investment and commercial lending. As venture capital funds have increased in size, many now focus on larger transactions, while banks often face regulatory and economic constraints that make smaller mid-market financing less attractive.
"As institutional capital has moved toward larger transactions, many established businesses seeking between 2 million and 25 million are finding fewer traditional funding options," said James Marsden, Managing Partner of Privea Partners. "Companies are often advised to approach family offices, but there is very little transparency around how to identify the right investors or navigate that market effectively."
Privea Partners works exclusively with single and multi-family offices, advising companies throughout the fundraising process. The firm notes that family offices typically conduct highly individualized due diligence and evaluate opportunities based on long-term investment objectives rather than standardized institutional mandates.
"Family office capital is often misunderstood," Marsden added. "These investors can be highly selective because they are investing their own capital. Once they have conviction, however, decision-making can move efficiently."
The firm also emphasizes the importance of transparency in presenting its experience. Privea Partners publicly distinguishes between transactions completed by its current team members and advisory board in previous professional roles and engagements completed by the firm itself.
Among its advisory board members is Srikanth Balachandran, former Chief Financial Officer of Bharti Airtel and OneWeb, who led OneWeb's US$2.7 billion equity raise during his tenure at the company. Between 2010 and 2026, members of Privea Partners' senior team and advisory board led, structured, or approved 29 selected transactions totaling more than US$13 billion across ten international markets in previous roles. These include the AED 4.0 billion Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal financing, a US$1.0 billion Dubai Islamic Bank Tier 1 Sukuk, and the US$750 million Government of Dubai Department of Finance Sukuk. The firm states that these transactions are disclosed with clear attribution and are not engagements of Privea Partners.
Privea Partners advises businesses seeking growth capital to prepare detailed financial information and clearly define how new funding will be deployed.
"Investors expect more than growth projections," Marsden said. "Companies should be able to explain precisely how capital will be used, the milestones it is expected to achieve, and the measurable outcomes they intend to deliver."
Privea Partners acts solely as an adviser and arranger. The firm does not invest client capital, underwrite transactions, operate as a fund manager, or hold client funds or securities. Typical engagements last approximately six months and combine a fixed advisory fee with a success fee payable upon successful capital raising.
