OAKLAND, Calif. - KTGY, a Great Places to Work certified design firm focused on architecture, branding, interiors and planning, announced today that the Building Industry Association of Bay Area has recognized five KTGY-designed residential communities and residences at the prestigious 47th Annual MAME Awards competition presented by the Sales and Marketing Council. KTGY was honored with two coveted top honors and seven finalists. The awards honor the industry’s most outstanding builder, sales, marketing and trade professionals who have distinguished themselves by working hard to deliver their best each day for the betterment of the industry. The winners were announced from the list of finalists on May 3, 2024.

KTGY’s winning designs:

Grove at Twin Oaks – Tarpan

Location: San Ramon, California

Builder/Developer: Toll Brothers

Architect: KTGY

Award: Best Architectural Design Attached Home – Over 2,000 sq. ft.

Grove at Twin Oaks aims to cater to a diverse community, including families, multi-generational households and 55+ buyers. To achieve this, we designed multiple units that offer either ground-floor or single-level living options. By strategically overlapping and interlocking condominiums, we widened the units, allowing more natural light, increased density, and added variety beyond the typical townhome layout. The architectural approach draws inspiration from early California contemporary masters like Irving Gill. Their influence is evident in the massing and detailing of the Grove’s design. Additionally, the interplay with one of the single-family styles found in the neighboring Arbor at Twin Oaks creates a harmonious blend of aesthetics on the site. Key features that set the Grove apart include expansive living spaces, a multitude of flexible areas, and private open spaces that maximize views. These elements contribute to the overall appeal of the development.

Tarpan is the largest plan at Grove and counters the typical “second-floor living” arrangement seen in condos and townhomes. Instead, the ground floor was widened to create a full living, kitchen and dining space on the entry level. Smartly separated from that is a large ground-floor bedroom and fully accessible bathroom. This creates the opportunity for aging-in-place and multi-generational families and satisfies the community goals of offering features attractive to a 55+ buyer in addition to families.

Victoria Station at Metro West

Location: Fremont, California

Builder/Developer: Toll Brothers

Architect: KTGY

Interior Designer: Pacific Dimensions

Award: Best Amenity Space

The contemporary stacked flats at Victoria Station at Metro West explore a variety of additional materials and textures, including architectural metal panels, thin brick veneer, fiber cement rain screen panels and board-form concrete tile. Each stacked flats building offers a private roof deck for residents to enjoy. These exclusive spaces are complete with outdoor fire pits, grilling and cooking area, lounge and table seating, flat-screen TVs and scenic views of the active corridors of Warm Springs.

Glass guardrails were thoughtfully incorporated on the roof deck to provide pleasant viewing experiences without disrupting the building’s overall design. The roof decks utilize a pedestal deck system, offering both a high-end walking surface and enhanced water drainage. Residents of the stacked flats also have access to amenities shared with the neighboring Kensington Station at Metro West townhomes. These amenities include a fitness center and clubhouse. Additionally, the Metro West community offers shops, shared work and office space, pet washing stations, package concierge with Amazon lockers, a community kitchen and a movie screening room.
