What Happened?

Shares of environmental solutions provider CECO Environmental (NASDAQ: CECO) jumped 5% in the morning session after the company extended their post-earnings rally, continuing to rise after reporting second-quarter 2026 results earlier in the week that featured record orders and a raised full-year outlook following the acquisition of Thermon Group. Revenue increased 54% year over year to $285.0 million, and orders surged 191% to a record $798.5 million, pushing the backlog above $1.8 billion.

While acquisition and integration costs tied to the June 1 closing of the Thermon deal resulted in a GAAP net loss of $34.8 million, adjusted non-GAAP EPS of $0.47 comfortably beat the $0.26 consensus. Management cited strong organic growth in power generation and industrial markets, alongside early synergy realization from Thermon. Consequently, CECO raised its full-year 2026 guidance for both revenue and adjusted EBITDA.

After the initial pop, the shares cooled down to $78.35, up 3.3% from the previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us

CECO Environmental’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 34 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 4 months ago when the stock gained 14.2% on the news that the company reported standout first-quarter 2026 results that significantly beat analyst expectations and raised its full-year guidance. The environmental solutions provider announced adjusted earnings per share of $0.36, more than double the Wall Street consensus of $0.15. Revenue also topped forecasts, growing 16.5% year-over-year to $205.9 million.

Encouraged by the strong performance, CECO lifted its revenue guidance for the full year to a midpoint of $970 million. The company's full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance of $130 million at the midpoint also surpassed analysts' estimates, signaling confidence in its business outlook.

CECO Environmental is up 31% since the beginning of the year, but at $78.35 per share, it is still trading 18.7% below its 52-week high of $96.41 from June 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of CECO Environmental’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $11,608.
