Boston Beer Company to Change Leadership, Effective April 1

(NewsUSA) - Boston Beer has announced Dave Burwicks’ retirement as the President and CEO, and current board member Michael Spillane to assume the post. The leadership change will take effect on April 01, 2024.

 

Dave Burwick has been in the company for 19 years and has been the CEO for the past 6 years. 

 

Boston Beer Founder and Brewer Jim Koch has mentioned that Dave made a huge impact on the company with a notable growth from $850 million in revenue to $2 billion during his leadership.

 

Koch verbally expressed gratitude for Dave’s partnership and contribution.

 

Spillane joined the Boston Beer’s board in 2016 and has been a lead director since May 2023.Before joining Boston Beer, he had worked as a Senior Executive for over 17 years with Nike. He also worked as a President and CEO of Umbro and Converse and a GM of Greater China.

 

Koch has said that Michael is the perfect candidate to lead Boston Beer considering his track record as a consumer executive and experience with the company's board.

 

Spillane has said that he’s excited to lead Boston Beer, thankful for Dave’s partnership and leadership, and excited to work with Jim and many other people in the company.
