Buggyra Academy France driver Téo Calvet delivered a commanding weekend at his home circuit in Nogaro, securing two victories and two second-place finishes to consolidate his lead in the French Truck Racing Championship.
-- Entering the third round as championship leader, the 26-year-old Frenchman was immediately among the fastest on Saturday. He finished second in the opening race behind Thomas Robineau, then produced an impressive charge from seventh on the grid in the reversed-grid second race to take his first victory of the weekend.
“It was a really great day. The second race was fantastic. I started from seventh and managed to win. The overtaking was great, and I was really happy about it,” Calvet said.
Sunday brought a more challenging start. Contact with Robineau at the opening of the first race resulted in a front-tire blow, forcing Calvet to pit. The Buggyra Academy France mechanics responded quickly, and a subsequent red-flag period allowed him to rejoin at the front. He recovered to second place. In the final race, he again started from seventh and fought through the field to repeat his victory of the day before.
“Today was demanding in every sense. Temperatures exceeded 40 degrees, taking a toll on the drivers, the trucks, and the whole team. After the tire incident, we had to pit, but the team did a fantastic job. To win again from seventh, I am really happy about, and that makes me appreciate these results even more,” Calvet said.
Buggyra Academy France left Nogaro with a strong points haul. Calvet leads the overall classification with 378 points, six ahead of Thomas Robineau with 372 points and Lionel Montagne in third with 298 points.
The championship continues in early July at Magny-Cours, where Calvet will arrive as series leader and one of the main title contenders.
