Nationally Recognized Memory Care Community Celebrates Second Major Honor from Senior Housing News

-- The Cordwainer, an Anthemion Senior Lifestyles assisted living memory care residence located at 555 Cordwainer Drive in Norwell, Massachusetts, is proud to announce that its Director of Memory Care Programming, Somita Ray, has been named to the Memory Care Innovation Awards Class of 2026 in the Senior Housing & Senior Living category, presented by Senior Housing News, a WTWH Healthcare publication.

This honor marks the second time The Cordwainer has been recognized by Senior Housing News. In 2023, the community was named the Best Stand-alone Memory Care community in the nation by Senior Housing News, earning top honors in the prestigious Architecture & Design Awards for its groundbreaking biophilic design, innovative programming environment, and commitment to the well-being of residents living with dementia. Now, that same spirit of innovation is being recognized again, this time through the people who bring it to life every day.

The Memory Care Innovation Awards recognize high-performing professionals who are shaping the future of cognitive care delivery. These individuals demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and advocacy on behalf of those living with memory-related disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The Class of 2026 Memory Care Innovators was announced on April 22, 2026, following a rigorous nominations and review process conducted by the WTWH Healthcare editorial team.

Somita's selection reflects her nearly 25 years of dedication to senior living and her transformative impact on memory care programming at The Cordwainer. Since joining the community, she has been a driving force behind innovative programming accompanying The Learned Environment℠ curriculum - a distinctive, brain-stimulating approach to memory care that incorporates music, art, and language exploration to enrich the lives of residents living with dementia. She collaborates with residents, families, and the Resident Care Director to develop individualized wellness plans, and she co-hosts a monthly caregiver support group serving families across Norwell and the greater South Shore.

A Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, Somita holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Fine Arts and Crafts and in Education, and has completed advanced training in Positive Approach to Care, Train-the-Trainer, Montessori Teaching, and Bodywork.

“Somita brings an extraordinary level of heart, imagination, and expertise to everything she does. The programs she has developed don’t just engage our residents—they help them feel seen, valued, and connected every day. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized on a national stage for the difference she makes in the lives of so many families.”* - Tamilyn Liesenfeld, Managing Member, The Cordwainer / Anthemion Senior Lifestyles

As a member of the Class of 2026, Somita will receive national recognition across WTWH Healthcare's media portfolio and a complimentary invitation to the TRENDS Conference, taking place August 4–6, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois.
