Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani Of Abu Dhabi Recognized As A Leading Force In Uae Construction, Real Estate, And Cross-Sector Investment
Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani
With a career spanning nearly three decades and a portfolio exceeding USD 1.35 billion in completed construction projects, Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani stands among the most consequential private investors and business leaders operating across the United Arab Emirates.

ABU DHABI, UAE - March 26, 2026 - Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani, Chairman and Co-Founding Partner of Silver Coast Construction & Boring LLC, has built one of the most substantive cross-sector business records in the UAE — spanning large-scale infrastructure, real estate development, private equity, investment advisory, and philanthropy. His career, rooted in Abu Dhabi since 1997, reflects a sustained commitment to enterprise-building in one of the world's most economically dynamic regions.

Silver Coast Construction & Boring LLC (SCCB), co-founded by Shaher Awartani and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has executed projects across the UAE valued at USD 1.35 billion. Under his chairmanship, the company has grown to employ a workforce of up to 4,500 people — a scale that underscores SCCB's role not only as a construction firm but as a significant contributor to the UAE's labor market and built environment. For more than 27 years, Awartani has guided the company through the full arc of the UAE's transformation into a global infrastructure hub.

Beyond construction, Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani has demonstrated a consistent pattern of strategic co-investment alongside some of the region's most prominent institutional and governmental figures. In 2013, he co-founded Equalis Capital Ltd, a proprietary investment company registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), in partnership with H.E. Yousif Al Otaiba. Two years later, he was invited by Global Gate Capital Partners — a Geneva-based investment firm managing more than USD 2 billion in assets across real estate and private equity — to become a shareholder and member of its Board of Directors.

In 2017, Awartani co-founded High Point Real Estate LLC in Dubai alongside H.E. Yousif Al Otaiba, H.E. Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, and Mr. Ahmed Ismail Bashee. The company developed and owns two residential assets in Dubai with a combined value of USD 100 million. That same year, he joined H.E. Yousif Al Otaiba and Mubadala Investment Company as a co-founder of Café Milano Abu Dhabi, located within the Four Seasons hotel in Abu Dhabi — the only Café Milano location outside of Washington, D.C.

In 2020, Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani and his partners — including Yousif Al Otaiba and the Bashee family — became substantial shareholders in Reem Hospital Abu Dhabi. The investment brought together InvestCorp of Bahrain, Mubadala Investment Company (which holds a 25% stake), and Wisayah Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aramco. The transaction illustrated Awartani's capacity to operate at the intersection of institutional healthcare, sovereign investment, and private capital.

Most recently, in 2024, Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani co-founded Yasa Capital (DIFC) Limited, an investment and advisory company regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority as a Category 4 entity. The formation of Yasa Capital marks the latest chapter in a career defined by the ability to identify, structure, and sustain ventures across multiple sectors and geographies.

Awartani is also a co-founder of Abaad Wood Industries, established in 2010, further evidencing the breadth of his entrepreneurial reach beyond financial services and real estate.

Philanthropy is a dimension of Awartani's public identity that extends well beyond the region. He operates a private scholarship program, active since 2015, and has made significant donations to the Children's National Medical Center — Sheikh Zayed Campus for Advanced Pediatric Medicine in Washington, D.C. These contributions reflect a personal commitment to education and healthcare that runs parallel to his business activity.

A graduate of Queen's College Taunton in Somerset, UK, Shaher Mohamed Ali Al-Awartani earned his Bachelor of Management from the University of Toledo in 1986 — a foundation that preceded decades of institution-building across the Gulf region and beyond.
