"Raise Your Head Up" gives a new way of looking at recovering from a concussion, focusing on understanding how and why the mind tends to focus on the negative and to how to support ourselves through negative emotions, thoughts and states. The author, Lina Maria Aristizabal, has lived through years of post-concussion syndrome herself. In the book she combines evidence-based tools with her own insights and experiences. Lina understands what it’s like to have a brain injury and writes with kindness, empathy, and a bit of humor. She talks about parts of living with a brain injury that are often missed or forgotten.

It reminds readers that they are not alone, even during their toughest times. Lina recognizes how post-concussion syndrome can affect many parts of life, such as finances, relationships, and trust in healthcare systems.

"This book does not offer any health tips or physical recovery tips. It is not about post-concussion syndrome. It is about YOU and what YOU can do to make your experience of life better while you continue to have post-concussion syndrome, persistent concussive symptoms, or whatever it is they are currently calling the multitude of symptoms, issues, difficulties, and pain you continue to have weeks, months, and years after sustaining a concussion," writes Lina.

The book emphasizes the importance of making different choices every day, shifting perspectives, and taking action to reclaim joy and life. Using knowledge, tools, and strategies from applied positive psychology and well-being science, as well as personal development tools, Lina provides readers with a valuable support system on their journey.

The book offers studies, anecdotes, and personal testimonials to support the suggested activities, encouraging readers to be curious and engaged in their recovery process.
