The platform brings the same transparency infrastructure Hartfield pioneered for cannabis to the rapidly expanding adaptogen supplement market
-- Justin Hartfield, co-founder of Weedmaps, has launched ShrooMap.com, a comprehensive consumer data platform designed to bring transparency and informed decision-making to the rapidly growing functional mushroom supplement market, projected to reach $20 billion globally by 2030.

ShrooMap aggregates pricing, product specifications, and store location data across hundreds of retailers and brands, providing consumers with side-by-side comparisons of functional mushroom products including capsules, tinctures, coffee blends, and extracts. The platform's mushroom gummies directory addresses one of the fastest-growing delivery formats in the adaptogen category, where gummy supplements have seen compound annual growth rates exceeding 25% since 2022 — but where consumer information remains fragmented and brand claims largely unverified.
"When I built Weedmaps, the cannabis industry had zero consumer infrastructure — no way to compare products, find stores, or verify quality," said Hartfield. "The functional mushroom space is at that same inflection point. Consumers are overwhelmed by choices and marketing claims, and there's no central platform helping them navigate it intelligently."
ShrooMap also features a verified smartshop and headshop directory, allowing users to locate physical retail locations carrying functional mushroom products by proximity — a feature modeled directly on the store-finder infrastructure Hartfield pioneered at Weedmaps. The directory currently aggregates locations across multiple countries, reflecting the global nature of the adaptogen market.
The platform's launch comes as the functional mushroom industry undergoes rapid mainstream adoption, driven by growing consumer interest in lion's mane, reishi, chaga, and cordyceps. Unlike pharmaceutical categories, functional mushrooms exist in a largely unregulated supplement space — creating precisely the conditions where consumer data aggregation provides the most value. Third-party testing claims, extraction ratios, and beta-glucan content vary dramatically between brands, and few consumers have the tools to evaluate them independently.
ShrooMap is designed to fill that gap without advocacy or brand favoritism. The platform earns revenue through affiliate partnerships and featured placements, which are disclosed transparently on the site. Hartfield declined to disclose specific traffic figures at this stage but noted the platform is architected to be profitable at modest traffic levels given its low editorial overhead and data-first content model.
The Valencia, Spain-based team operates the platform remotely, with a lean infrastructure built around proprietary data pipelines.
