Los Angeles, USA - Andreas Szakacs Productions has officially begun principal photography on its upcoming feature film Shadow Fist, marking a significant milestone for the independent studio as it continues to expand its slate of original productions.

Filmed primarily in Mexico City, the project brings a grounded, human-centered story to life against the backdrop of the city’s underground mixed martial arts scene. At its core, Shadow Fist follows Maya Cross, a former hospitality worker whose life takes a dramatic turn as she enters the fight circuit in search of stability, dignity, and a way forward. As she navigates the challenges of this new world, Maya is forced to confront not only her opponents in the ring, but also the personal struggles that have shaped her journey.
Founder Andreas Szakacs serves as producer on the film and also appears in a cameo role. He described the project as a natural extension of the studio’s creative direction, emphasizing emotionally grounded storytelling paired with a strong visual identity.
“Every project we take on is about finding a story that feels real and meaningful,” said Szakacs. “With Shadow Fist, we wanted to explore a character who is rebuilding their life from the ground up, and to tell that story in a way that feels both intimate and cinematic.”
The production features an international cast and crew, working across multiple departments to bring the film’s vision to life. Principal photography is taking place on location throughout Mexico City, with additional studio work scheduled in Los Angeles. The creative team is focusing on blending practical environments, stylized cinematography, and carefully choreographed fight sequences to create a realistic and immersive viewing experience.
Collaboration is a central part of the production process, with teams in cinematography, production design, sound, and stunt coordination working closely together to ensure consistency in tone and visual storytelling. The film aims to balance action with character development, prioritizing emotional stakes alongside the physical intensity of the fight sequences.
