Digital twin platform advances energy optimization and AI infrastructure management for computing research facility
Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been selected by NVIDIA to deploy its Data Center Digital Twin for a large-scale R&D facility in the United States. Under a three-year software-as-a-service agreement, Jacobs will deploy a digital twin environment to enhance operational planning and improve facility performance across one of NVIDIA's most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) research and development facilities.
Built on NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, Jacobs' Data Center Digital Twin creates a real-time environment that helps operators simulate scenarios, while monitoring and optimizing facility performance. The platform integrates engineering models, operational technology and live facility data into a single operational platform, giving operators greater visibility into infrastructure performance.
Jacobs Executive Vice President Amer Battikhi said: “As digital infrastructure rapidly scales, operators need smarter and more connected ways to optimize performance and manage energy demand, while improving resiliency. Jacobs is integrating real-time data and simulation technologies to help NVIDIA advance the next generation of AI infrastructure management. The project reflects the growing role of digital twins in helping operators manage critical infrastructure environments.”
The digital twin solution will support predictive and simulation-driven use cases including dynamic power load balancing, energy forecasting, liquid coolant leak detection monitoring, predictive maintenance and operator training. Teams can model changing AI workloads to better understand power availability and cooling performance.
Beyond visualization and simulation, Jacobs is evolving the digital twin into an intelligent operating system for AI factories, where AI agents continuously learn from facility data to predict conditions, recommend actions and optimize operations with increasing autonomy.
The award builds on Jacobs’ work with NVIDIA advancing digital twin technology for AI infrastructure and advanced data center environments. Jacobs is also delivering high-performance computing environments for organizations including Hut 8 in the U.S., SINES DC Campus by Start Campus in Portugal and PsiQuantum in Australia.
