New resource helps Americans living in Spain identify where they can have fingerprints taken for an FBI Identity History Summary Check without returning to the United States

MADRID, Spain - August 24, 2026 - Fingerprinting.es has published a new resource identifying police stations in Spain where Americans and other applicants may be able to have fingerprints taken for an FBI Identity History Summary Check, commonly referred to as an FBI background check.

Obtaining an FBI background check while living abroad can be surprisingly difficult. The FBI requires fingerprints as part of the application process, but U.S. embassies and consulates generally do not provide fingerprinting services for private FBI background check requests.

That leaves Americans already living in Spain searching for a local police station or private fingerprinting provider capable of taking fingerprints that can be submitted to the FBI.

Fingerprinting.es created its new police-station directory to make that search easier.

Applicants should contact the police station before traveling because availability, procedures and operating hours can change.

A Difficult Process for Americans Already Living Abroad

FBI background checks are frequently needed by Americans abroad for immigration, residency, citizenship, employment and other administrative procedures.

The FBI permits applicants to submit fingerprints on an FD-1164 fingerprint card, including a card printed on standard white paper. However, fingerprints must be sufficiently clear for the FBI to process them.

For someone already living in Spain, the challenge is often not understanding that fingerprints are required. It is finding someone locally who will actually take them.

Fingerprinting.es was created specifically to address that problem.

Rather than requiring applicants to locate a participating police station, travel during limited fingerprinting hours and then arrange international submission themselves, Fingerprinting.es provides professional fingerprinting services for FBI background checks in Spain.

The company currently provides service in major Spanish cities and is expanding its fingerprinting network across the country.

Police Fingerprinting vs. Professional FBI Fingerprinting

Police stations remain a useful option for applicants who want to complete the process themselves. However, availability can be limited to specific stations, days and hours.

Fingerprinting.es provides an alternative designed specifically for people who need fingerprints for U.S. background checks while abroad.

The service helps applicants obtain FBI-compatible fingerprints in Spain and navigate the submission process without flying back to the United States simply to be fingerprinted.

The company recommends that anyone using a police station bring the appropriate FBI fingerprint form and verify the station’s current procedures before visiting.
