Community advocate and nationally recognized “Angel Mom” Agnes Gibboney has endorsed David VanGorden in his campaign for Rancho Cucamonga City Council, District 2.
Gibboney, President of the Rancho Cucamonga chapter of the California Republican Assembly (CRA), announced her support following VanGorden’s recent appearance at a CRA meeting where he formally announced his candidacy and spoke about issues facing Rancho Cucamonga residents, including development, fiscal responsibility, public safety, and transparency in city government.
Agnes Gibboney has become widely known as an “Angel Mom,” a term used to describe mothers whose children were tragically killed by individuals who were in the United States illegally. Gibboney’s son, Ronald da Silva, was murdered by an illegal immigrant, a tragedy that led her to become an outspoken advocate for public safety, immigration enforcement, and support for victims of violent crime. Since then, she has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs and has met with political leaders across the country while speaking about the importance of protecting communities and supporting law enforcement.
Gibboney said she believes VanGorden brings the experience, integrity, and commitment needed to represent residents of Rancho Cucamonga.
“David VanGorden has spent his career serving and protecting the community,” Gibboney said. “He understands the importance of public safety, transparency, and standing up for residents. Rancho Cucamonga needs leaders who will listen to the community and ask the tough questions when decisions affect the future of our city. I am proud to support David in his campaign for City Council.”
VanGorden said he was honored to receive Gibboney’s endorsement and praised her dedication to community safety and advocacy.

VanGorden, candidatge for Rancho Cucamonga City Council, District 2, will be challenging incumbent Kristine Scott and DeJonae Shaw in upcoming General Municipal Election November 3rd, 2026.
A longtime Rancho Cucamonga resident and retired law enforcement officer, VanGorden has said his campaign will focus on issues residents have raised repeatedly in recent years, including development planning, infrastructure, fiscal priorities, and maintaining Rancho Cucamonga’s reputation as a safe and well-managed city.
