GARDEN GROVE, CA - August 21, 2026 - Iconic synth-pop duo Decode 3 has officially announced their return to the electronic music scene with a modernized sound, an upcoming full-length fall album, and a high-energy live performance at the Garden Amp in Garden Grove, California on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Originally formed in 1988, Decode 3 first established their roots as a trio featuring Edgar Lopez Montial, Freddie Morales, and former member Mark Vrtar. Emerging from the vibrant late-1980s electronic music scene, the group gained traction with Edgar on lead vocals, Mark managing synth programming, and Freddie rounding out their distinct synth-wave structure. Together, they created dark, compelling synth-pop anthems, led by their standout underground hit "Control," as well as popular original compositions including "Christian" and "Demented Skies".
As their sound evolved into the early 1990s, Decode 3 actively pursued major record label deals before stepping back to pursue individual musical projects. Decades later, the group's creative spark reignited, bringing Edgar Lopez Montial and Freddie Morales back together in Edgar's studio to re-imagine the timeless synth melodies they pioneered. Now operating as a powerhouse duo, Decode 3 features Freddie Morales stepping forward into the role of lead vocalist alongside Edgar's master synthesizer production.
In 2025, Decode 3 began their next chapter by releasing dynamic electronic covers of classic tracks, including "The Great Commandment," "Planet Earth," and "Shout," while developing a completely new look and immersive live show experience. Rebuilding and reimagining those tracks with a fresh, modern electronic sound for a new generation, the duo has laid the groundwork for an ambitious musical revival. With a full studio album due this fall, Decode 3 is ready to bring the past, present, and future together on stage.
Music enthusiasts can catch Decode 3 LIVE on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Garden Amp, located at 12762 Main St., Garden Grove, CA 92840. Performing as a featured act during the popular New Wave Nation showcase, Decode 3 will share the stage with acclaimed headlining tribute acts West End Boys, Past Action Heroes, and Devotional: The Depeche Mode Experience.
