Liberate Introduces AI Intercept as Consumer AI Assistants Start Shopping for Insurance

The new capability identifies when a consumer's AI agent is calling a carrier or agency, and serves that caller end-to-end with Liberate's insurance-native AI.

Liberate, a provider of insurance-native AI agents for property and casualty insurers, today launched AI Intercept, a capability that screens every inbound call to a carrier or agency, identifies when the caller is a consumer's AI agent rather than a person, and routes it to Liberate's AI for end-to-end handling, allowing human teams to stay focused on the customers who need them.

“Insurers are about to get a new kind of caller: AI agents shopping for coverage on a consumer’s behalf,” said Amrish Singh, co-founder and CEO of Liberate. “If a carrier can't tell a machine from a person, human agents will end up spending their day talking to software while a family calling about a flooded basement sits on hold. AI should handle AI so people can handle people.”

The announcement follows a fast change in how consumers are shopping for insurance. Meta began rolling out Muse, its personal AI agent, in the U.S. on Sept. 8, but within weeks, insurance marketplace Insurify blocked it from its platform, citing concerns that automated quoting strips out critical coverage limits, deductibles, and eligibility details.

Liberate expects more consumer AI agents to call agencies and carriers directly to get quotes and service policies. That creates a new problem for insurance operations. Call volume will rise, but each call will carry less intent. If human agents answer every AI-placed call, insurers will pay for calls that rarely convert into customers.

How AI Intercept works:

  • Detect. Liberate identifies when an inbound caller is an AI agent rather than a person.
  • Triage. The call is classified and routed automatically without pulling human teams away from live customers.
  • Serve. Liberate's AI agent handles the conversation end-to-end, including quoting, servicing, and follow-up.
  • Govern. Every interaction runs through Liberate's Supervisor Layer, with full audit trails and escalation to a licensed human when a conversation needs one.

Singh added that voice is a bridge, not the endpoint. "Today's insurance infrastructure is built for humans talking to humans. Over time, agents will communicate with one another through machine-native channels. We built our capabilities so insurers are ready for both."

About Liberate
