So, How much content do I need to start a blog? How long, and how often should I write a new content for my blog. All you need to know how to start a blog…

If you’ve decided to try your hand at blogging, you probably have some questions.

Questions like; what sort of content should I write, How much content do I need to start blog, and how often should I post a new content to my blog?

It can be daunting to know where and how to begin, but you can rest assured that you’ve come to the right place.

We are going to tell you everything you need to know about launching your blog and giving it wings.

So, let’s jump right into it.

1. What Sort of Content Should I write…

The best thing about a blog is having the freedom to write about whatever you want to write!

All you need to know to start a blogThe only limit is your own imagination.

If you’re passionate about a certain topic, or if you feel like you’re more knowledgeable than most about a certain subject, then writing a blog would be a wonderful way to share your knowledge and ideas with the world.

Your content can be about anything you want it to be.

There are typically, 5 types of blogs.
  • There is the how to blogs, which explain various subjects or applications in a step-by-step manner.
  • Then come the second type of blogs: a profile blog, which are all about a certain person or celebrity.
  • Third, you’ve got products and services blogs, which go into great detail about various products and services.
  • Number four, there are problems and solutions article, which help readers to solve various issues.
  • And lastly, there are inspirational blogs that tell wonderful and inspiring stories.

Now, if your blog idea doesn’t fit into these categories, don’t sweat it!

These are simply the most common types.

Chances are, if your idea falls outside these categories, then you probably have an amazing and unique idea!ird

Stay within the limits of its niche.

Now, a successful blog will always stay within the limits of its niche.

This mean to pick a topic and stick with it.

For example, if you want to write about childcare, your article should always surround that topic and it shouldn’t ever stray too far away from that.

If you want to write about child care and traveling, you should consider creating two blogs for each niche.

A blog with too many niches and subjects can become very unorganized and difficult for your readers to navigate.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to write about a multitude of different things.

In fact, we encourage you to write to your heart’s content.

Just be sure to create multiple blogs for each different subject.

It might seem easier or less of a hassle to just throw them all together but, believe us, your blog will be much easier for readers to navigate if there is just one main niche.

She wrote a lot of great article about stress management, mental health treatments, and tips on mindfulness.

This website is one of the great sample of choosing specific niche, targeted but yet her blog can have a lot of interesting content.

Break you niche up into smaller parts

Now, that being said, feel free to break your niche up into smaller parts.

Going back to the childcare example, you can create a portion of the blog for day to day stories about child care.

You can have another part of your blog that is all about the tougher stuff that surrounds childcare.

You can even have another section of the blog that maybe deals with childcare budgeting or managing childcare finances.

You can break up and design your blog however you’d like, but always try to stay within your specialty niche.

It might be educational and fun to see how other similar blogs are set up and how you can navigate through them.

This will give you an idea of how you want your own blog to look and function.

Take your time and do your homework before you commit to anything.

You might be surprised by just how much looking at another person’s work might inspire you.

Your content should be the tone in which your write

If the first five blogs you write are funny and witty and make your readers laugh, a sudden serious article might throw your readers off a little bit.

They came to your blog to enjoy a funny read and maybe get a giggle and that is just not what they got.

Just like sticking to your niche, it is important to also stick to your tone.

Consider your subject. Certain subjects aren’t meant to be funny.

They can be very serious or very thought provoking.

It is good for a successful blog to stick to a similar tone throughout because that is the tone your readers will come to expect when they visit your blog.

Writing from personal experience

Writing from personal experience is another wonderful way to really amp up your content.

If your subject requires imagination or deals in the make-believe, then you can skip over this next bit.

Not all subjects need to follow this particular bit.

If you can touch hearts and minds with your writing, then your blog will go far!

How much content do I need to start a blog

This is a very common question that many new bloggers ask about.

To be honest, there really isn’t a set answer.

So, How much content do you need to start blog content?

My husband and I, highly recommend posting at least 5 articles though, and we will tell you why.

When a new readers stumbles across your blog, they are going to be curious about what you have to say.

Having a few good articles already written will give your new reader the chance to get to know you and take a small peak into what your blog is going to be about.

After reading them, they’ll decide whether or not they want to come back and read more, or if they’re not interested.

If you have less than 5 good articles, I wouldn’t recommend launching your blog yet.

You want to give your readers a decent amount of your talents and ideas, right off the bat.

If you don’t put enough out there then you risk your readers losing interest before you really get going.

You want to avoid having too little when you launch.

A lot of new bloggers make the mistake of launching their blogs before a single article is even posted.

This is definitely a bad move.

You’ll draw new readers in and when they see that you have no content, they will be very uninterested and more than likely never check your blog out again.

If you wow from the get-go, you’ll draw people in immediately, and as long as you keep putting out content, you’ll keep them around.

If we post whenever we “feel” like it, well, our visitors will visit whenever they “feel” like it.

How Much Should I Write in One Post/Article

Every blog is different and there really is no set limit to how much you can write.

It is your blog and you make the rules.

So, be as creative as you want to be.

Still, however, if you’re curious about the average amount, a typical article is around 700-1200 words.

If you find that a particular article is exceptionally long, because you find yourself having a lot to say, consider breaking it up into multiple articles, to make it more convenient for your readers.

How Often Should I Post to My Blog

There are no set rules to how often you should post an article, however, it is highly suggested that you try your best to post at least once a week.

Some bloggers post two or three times a week, and the more you can do, the more readers you will get!

When a reader discovers that they love what you have to say, they are going to want to read more and more.

It is important to try to keep up with the demand as best you can.

If you don’t post for weeks or even months on end, your readers might think that you’ve abandoned the blog and they’ll go find another blog to peruse.

Basically, the more you post, the tighter grip you will have on your readers, and that’s exactly what you want.
