Pilot on Peace Mission Moves 3 Times During Pandemic

"Peace Pilot" Robert DeLaurentis shares how he has "kept calm and carried on" during the COVID-19 crisis

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 06, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- San Diego pilot and retired Naval officer Robert DeLaurentis set out on a flight to connect the two places on the planet where there has always been peace: the North and South poles. Before he could complete his mission, however, the coronavirus pandemic struck. With friends, family, sponsors, and others telling him to cancel his mission of peace and return home, Robert doubled down and self-quarantined right where he was: in Spain, at the epicenter of the coronavirus in Europe. He has since had to move three times — from a monastery to a hotel to a private residence — but he has never given up hope, or his mission of peace.

"If anyone had ever told me that I would find inner peace during a quarantine in the epicenter of the coronavirus in Europe, I would have laughed," says Robert. "After all, how can someone find inner peace during a time of chaos with a global pandemic raging all around them? Spain is still registering almost 350 deaths a day as healthcare workers struggle to save lives, politicians preach social distancing while not wearing their own masks, scientists race to find a vaccine while hoping for herd immunity to kick in, and the coronavirus continues to 'cull the herd' with remarkable efficiency. Yet, quite surprisingly, during this two-month quarantine I've been experiencing extended periods of inner peace, which come over me like a wave. Honestly, for the first time in my life, I can say I feel truly happy, even joyful."

Robert has cultivated this sense of inner calm using 15 tools, he says:

1. Gratitude
2. Silence and connection with nature
3. Surrender
4. Slower pace
5. Living without expectations
6. Settling into a simpler life
7. Non-stressful work
8. Cultivating a relationship with his creative spirit
9. Meditation
10. Self-care
11. Fresh air
12. Releasing the ego
13. Letting go of fear
14. Acceptance
15. Finding comfort living in the moment

"I'm excited to see this transformation unfolding in this time of uncertainty," Robert says. "I'm optimistic and believe we are awakening to who we truly are. This is a time of rebirth and new beginnings for those who have felt trapped or stagnant. It is a global reset — not just on the planet, but in ourselves as well — and will bring us all together as One Planet and One People: Oneness for Humanity."
