Dry Cleaners and Laundromats Are Essential Businesses in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS - March 31, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

The Minnesota Cleaners Association requests that all news and media outlets list Dry Cleaners and Laundromats on their lists of "Essential" businesses when letting the public know who is open for business. Local dry cleaners, who are all small businesses, around the State of Minnesota are struggling during the COVID-19 because customers do not know that they have been listed as "Essential." Some have had to close altogether due to the drop in business.

According to Governor Tim Walz's Emergency Executive Order 20-20, Section 6 (ff), Dry Cleaning and Laundry services are Essential Services:

"ff. Laundry services. This category is limited to workers who support laundromats, dry cleaners, industrial laundry services, and laundry service providers for other Critical Sectors."

"Our greatest concern is for the welfare and safety of the customers, staff, and community. During this crisis, it is essential to keep your clothes and household items clean," states Drenda Wendell, Executive Director of the Minnesota Cleaners Association.

Please check with your local Dry Cleaner for their updated hours during this unprecedented pandemic of COVID-19, but be assured that many are still open and ready to help with garment and cleaning needs.
