W. R. Berkley Corporation Announces Senior Executive Appointments

W. R. Berkley Corporation (NYSE: WRB) today announced the appointments of James B. Gilbert as executive vice president – enterprise technology and Nelson Tavares as executive vice president with oversight responsibility for certain of the Company’s operating units. The appointments are effective immediately.

Mr. Gilbert has served as executive vice president with oversight responsibility for certain of the Company’s operating units since 2018. He joined W. R. Berkley Corporation in 2006 as BerkleyNet’s senior vice president of actuarial and operations and was named president of the operating unit in 2014. Mr. Gilbert has nearly 30 years of experience in the property casualty insurance industry and is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in statistics.

Mr. Tavares joined the Company in 2011 as senior vice president – claims. He has over 30 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, with a particular emphasis on complex casualty claims. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and multinational corporate studies from Upsala College.
