PPI shows tepid increase in U.S. wholesale inflation at the end of 2019

The wholesale cost of U.S. goods and services barely rose in December, suggesting there was little inflation building up in the guts of the economy at the end of 2019. Wholesale inflation rose just 1.3% last year — half as much as it did in 2018.
