By: Issuewire

New York City, May 15, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Molly is a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) with the Santa Maria Care Center. The Santa Maria Care Center has been in the neighborhood providing family orientated essential nursing and clinical services to the Santa Maria area since 1961. The Center provides a multi-disciplinary therapy and nursing approach, allowing patients access to a range of suitable programs including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and wound care.

In the field of nursing, Molly's areas of expertise include long-term care and rehabilitation. Long-term care is a variety of services that help meet both the medical and non-medical needs of people with a chronic illness or disability who cannot care for themselves for long periods. Rehabilitation is care that can help a patient get back, keep or improve abilities that they need for daily life.

Molly received her nursing degree from the Merrimack College of San Diego in 1990.

Molly holds certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and IV Therapy (IVT).

Molly is a member of the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (NALPN). The NALPN was founded in the state of New York in 1949 to provide a structure at the national level through which LPNs and LVNs could promote better patient care, as well as speak and act on behalf of the occupational group. The mission of the NALPN is to foster high standards of nursing care and to promote continued competence through education/certification and lifelong learning, with a focus on public protection.

Molly attributes her success to having a positive attitude and learning from her co-workers and patients. Her inspiration to become a nurse came from wanting to help people.

Licensed vocational nurse (LVN) is a job title specific to Texas and California. Licensed vocational nurses are known as licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in all other states. LVNs and LPNs work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians, providing basic bedside care to patients.

LVNs, like Molly, are typically responsible for monitoring patients' vital signs, including their blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, and weight. Other tasks that LVNs are responsible for include giving enemas, recording intake and output of foods and fluids, collecting samples for testing, maintaining equipment, and dressing wounds - among others.
