Free Insulation Available To All In Yorkshire & Lancashire For A Limited Time Through Energylink

By: PRLog
PR Log - May 11, 2012 - For a limited time only, all homeowners and private tenants in Yorkshire and Lancashire can claim a Free Insulation Grant, to cover the full cost of Loft Insulation and/or Cavity Wall Insulation, through the EnergyLink website www.freeinsulation.co.uk.

The Free Insulation Grants allow all homeowners and private tenants in Yorkshire and Lancashire to save up to £800 on the typical costs and have Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation installed completely free, regardless of age or circumstances. There is absolutely no catch.

The Free Home Insulation scheme has been made available by utility companies who are falling short of meeting a Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), placed on them by the Government, and who risk receiving a fine.

All residents in Yorkshire and Lancashire, including those that previously had to contribute towards the cost, now have a limited time to claim 100% free Insulation Grants. In comparison with previous free Insulation Grants, which were only available to those aged above 70 or in receipt of certain benefits, this represents a far better incentive.

Amidst rising energy prices, Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation remain the two most energy efficient ways to retain heat and make large savings on energy bills.

Loft Insulation Grants are available on the free Home Insulation scheme to cover the full cost of Loft Insulation. A fully insulated loft will act as a blanket, preventing up to 25% of heat being lost through a home’s roof and leading to savings of up to £175 per year on energy bills.

It is also possible to claim a free Loft Insulation Grant to top up a partially insulated loft, which will typically generate savings of up to £45 per year on heating bills.

Most properties built of brick between 1924 and 1982 are likely to have a cavity and will be able to take advantage of a free Cavity Wall Insulation Grant, providing that Cavity Wall Insulation has not been installed in the property before.

Cavity Wall Insulation will prevent the majority of heat escaping through a home’s walls and will result in energy bill savings of up to £135 per year. Installing both Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation can save a household up to £310 per year.

The current Free Insulation Grants are scheduled to end in December 2012 and will be replaced by the Government’s Green Deal scheme, although there is no guarantee that the Free Insulation Grants will last until then. Once the funding runs out, the scheme will end.

Under the Green Deal, UK homeowners and private tenants will be offered energy efficient improvements, including Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation, at no upfront cost. The cost would then be recovered through charges on a home’s energy bills.

Therefore, EnergyLink advise homeowners and private tenants in Yorkshire and Lancashire to claim a free Loft Insulation Grant and/or a free Cavity Wall Insulation Grant now while they are still available and before the Green Deal launches.
