United States – September 11, 2022 – The Association of ESD Professionals is pleased to announce the launch of the first professional credentialing program to serve Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD). The Credentialing Program is currently accepting applications, and the Association will be developing the Continuing Education and Accreditation components this fall.
This program intends to elevate the Empowerment Self-Defense profession and its practitioners. It is the Association’s highest priority to advance the work of ESD professionals around the world so that they can fulfill their mission to empower all people to prevent bullying, abuse, harassment, and physical violence.
According to Sheila Watson, Team Lead for the Credentialing Program, “Operating through a standardized exam, the ESDP Credential will legitimize the ESD profession in the eyes of the public, governments, and institutions. This will open up endless opportunities for practitioners in the form of client referrals and funding.”
“We have already had special requests for taking the Exam earlier than September because the governments and world organizations with whom ESD professionals are negotiating broad scale ESD contracts require that practitioners be credentialed,” says Samantha Waterman, Executive Director of the Association. “With the Credentialing Program, ESD professionals will be able to expand the reach of ESD to thousands, eventually millions of people. That is millions of people who will live safer, more confident, and more fulfilling lives.”
The first exam periods are September 19-25, 2022 and November 7-13, 2022.
