AMÉRICA MÓVIL ACQUIRES ENITEL

MEXICO CITY (MEXICO), August 4, 2004. América Móvil, S.A. de C.V. (América Móvil) [BMV: AMX] [NYSE: AMX] [NASDAQ: AMOV] [LATIBEX: XAMXL], announced today that it has consummated the acquisition of a 50.03% controlling interest in Nicaraguan wireless company Enitel. With this transaction América Móvil’s interest in the company reaches 99.03%.
