From Successful Player To An Inspiring Coach: Eskidjian's StoryAgainst all odds, Mr. Eskidjian’s strong determination brings him from the bottom to the top. An inspiring career on the court both as a player and a head coach. Vicken Eskidijian, also known as “Coach Ve,” has gained praise worldwide after having a remarkable career. Eskidjian, now in Los Angeles, is helping the next generation achieve their goals and dreams.

October 28, 2020 – With skill, hard work, and faith, anything is possible. This is what Mr. Eskidjian proves with his inspirational life story, going from a young Armenian kid in a war stricken poverty city in Lebanon to chasing his dreams in the world of professional basketball. Mr. Eskidjian has reached the highest levels of international success, both as a player and a coach.

“If we believe and work harder than the rest, we can achieve our dreams,” commented the passionate coach and player development specialist. “There’s nothing I love more than to help, but taking action is a must to move forward in a competitive world.”

Coach Ve’s rise in the sport did not come easy; at just 13 years old, Vicken lost his mother to murder in Lebanon, something that would make many give up on their goals. Instead, he locked in on his dream, training, playing, and being selected for his country’s national team at just 17 years of age. In his 18 years as a professional basketball player, he had proved himself as a respected international star. Even after an ACL surgery, he continued to flourish as he was the 3rd leading scorer in Asia, averaging 18.8 ppg and 9.8 rebounds per game.

A style of play that is considered as tough and hard-nosed, he got the job done daily. Mr. Eskidjian’s transition from a player to a coach was when he realized basketball would be apart of him fulfilling his dream. Mr. Eskidjian brought the same fire of playing basketball to coaching. He found himself amid a 13-year coaching career in Asia in which he earned many gold medals and championship victories.

Most recently, Vicken turned down many professional coaching opportunities internationally and made his way to Los Angeles, where he has become an essential part of the vibrant local Armenian community. Coach Ve trains youth and adults of all levels ranging from middle school students to professional basketball players. These people come from across the world; people from all backgrounds and communities make their way to Los Angeles to learn from not just one of the best but from a man who truly wants to see them be their best version of themselves in all areas on and off the court. Part of these responsibilities is being Gary Chivichyan’s head trainer – and the two are on a mission to ignite the first Armenian player to ever to be associated with the NBA.

Today, Coach Ve is training out of the Academy USA in Glendale, California. He can be reached on social media for training/coaching inquiries.
