Tens of billions of single-use plastic cups are discarded every year in the US alone, from restaurants, cafes, sports and entertainment events, and other catered events such as trade shows and conferences; most end up in landfills – even those designated recyclable (in reality, according to the EPA, only 13% of supposedly recyclable plastic is actually recycled.) Lore Technology's invention, a single-use cup that actually dissolves in water, is a game changer for the environment and the perfect solution for a problem that is rapidly overwhelming our planet.

The cup is made from a non-toxic, biodegradable, and 100% water-soluble substrate called Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA). It is then coated with a thin layer of a water-insoluble, FDA-approved, moisture barrier.
