Why you should wear Medical Diabetic Socks?

You may have heard that people with diabetes should always be wearing some kind of foot protection, but why? What makes diabetics’ feet so vulnerable?
The answer has to do with high blood glucose levels. The high blood glucose levels that accompany diabetes can lead to plaque build-up in blood vessels, causing them to narrow. Obviously, blood vessels need to have enough free space for blood to move through them quickly and efficiently – if they’re not as wide as they should be, blood has a tough time getting where it needs to go as quickly as it needs to get there, not to mention in high enough quantities. Since blood flow is important for healing injuries, this means that even a small cut on a diabetic person’s foot could result in disaster. As if this weren’t enough, high blood glucose levels can also cause nerve damage – referred to as neuropathy – that could lead to a loss of feeling in your feet, meaning you might not even be aware if you do get injured! The risk of foot ulcers, calluses, bunions, hammertoes, and even fungal infections all increase with diabetes.

So what can be done about this problem?

One practical and comfortable solution is what’s called medical diabetic socks, for women and men.

How Medical Diabetic Socks Can Help You

Specially-designed medical diabetic socks such as those we offer can help avoid complications by increasing blood flow to your feet. Our socks are also treated with Sanitized Actifresh, which keeps infection and bad odors away by inhibiting bacterial growth. The socks are tall, meaning they offer as much coverage as possible to the vulnerable areas of your body. Additionally, they aren’t restrictive, so if you’re worried they’ll leave marks on your legs you can put those fears to rest! Comfort extends from top to bottom with our socks, starting at the flexible, non-elastic top and running down to the padded foot. Additionally, the flat-toe seam and extra ankle support cradle your foot, meaning you won’t notice any irritation as you walk. The flat-toe seam can also help reduce the chance of rubbing, which can prevent ulcers, and the padding provides insulation against foot injuries in general. Our socks are ideal not just for people with diabetes, but also for those who have sensitive feet – whether you have diabetes or not, these socks create excellent support for simply walking around your home, office, or even more strenuous activities such as hiking. Our mission is to provide effective diabetic socks that are as comfortable as they possibly can be, and we offer both woolen and cotton socks, as well as cotton ankle socks. Our medical diabetic socks come in a variety of colors and sizes for both men and women

Woolen Diabetic Socks

Our woolen socks are made from merino wool, one of the softest and most comfortable materials on the market. It’s also incredibly versatile: merino wool is responsive to temperature, helping to keep you warm in the winter but cool in the summer.
It does this by absorbing and releasing moisture – think of it as a type of “smart” wool because that’s essentially what it is. Merino wool has natural antibacterial properties, too, making it a powerful combination with the Sanitized Actifresh that’s on all of our socks. The fact that its antibacterial means it prevents odors along with infections, making it a good option for hiking or otherwise exploring nature. It also makes an excellent absorbent, being able to hold up to 30 % of its weight in fluid. That means you don’t have to worry too much if you sweat a lot, although you may notice the socks increasing in weight as the day goes on. This drawback, however, is minor compared to the benefits you’ll get and can be easily resolved by washing the socks and letting them dry for a day. Overall, merino wool is an excellent material for socks and we promise these will help reduce the risk to your feet from diabetes or protect them even if you don’t have this condition.

Cotton Diabetic Socks

Cotton is another excellent material for socks and, in our opinion, one of the best. Many socks available today are made from polyester, but cotton is superior to polyester for a few reasons. For one, cotton is much more breathable than polyester, meaning your feet won’t sweat as much. Next, cotton is softer than polyester, so it will feel more comfortable (and less irritating) against your skin. With our socks’ nonrestrictive tops and padding, you can be sure they’re extra comfortable! Even though you won’t sweat as much with cotton, you might still sweat a little – if so, you’ll be happy to know that cotton, like merino wool, also makes a good absorbent. Did you know cotton is an anti-allergenic material? Well, if not, now you do know it’s a good idea to wear cotton if you suffer from allergies. Finally, cotton is antibacterial, which will help prevent infections and poor odors. Our cotton diabetic socks for men and women take advantage of all these features to create a great comfortable and functional sock that’s perfect for people with diabetes or sensitive feet.

Cotton Diabetic Ankle Socks

If you’re reading this in summer and thinking you don’t want tall socks due to the temperature, don’t worry! We have you covered.

Our cotton ankle socks have all the benefits of our regular cotton socks – that is, they’re comfortable, breathable, absorbent, anti-allergenic, and antibacterial – but with the added perks of allowing your legs a bit more room to “breathe” and being a bit easier to take off at the end of a long day.

Wrapping Up

Whether you’re looking for men’s diabetic socks or women’s diabetic socks, we’re here to see to your unique needs! Overall, we feel you can rest assured that our socks will improve your quality of life, whether you have diabetes or not, by providing comfort and reducing your risk of injury. That being said, be sure to check your feet for injuries every day and wash them often. If you have diabetes and do notice a cut or injury, be sure to notify your doctor and ask for further instructions – you can often treat these wounds at home with antibiotics, but consult with a professional first.
