Mayor Paul McNamara Formally Endorses Dara Czerwonka for Escondido City Council in District 3

Marking the Third Endorsement for Czerwonka in a Tight Race

ESCONDIDO, CA, September 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mayor Paul McNamara announced today his formal endorsement of Dara Czerwonka for Escondido District 3 City Council. This announcement marks the third endorsement from current and former Escondido Mayors in what is now becoming a competitive race for the District 3 City Council seat, being vacated by Olga Diaz. Czerwonka has also been endorsed by former Escondido Mayors Lori Pfeiler and Jerry Harmon.

In an official statement, McNamara said, "Dara is highly experienced and capable. She has been representing District 3 voters for six years including now as elected trustee of the San Pasqual School District Board and from 2014-2018 as elected trustee on The Palomar Health District Board."

Following receipt of her Masters degree, Czerwonka began her 15-year career as a nonprofit Executive, focusing on health, education and human services business management. During her tenure on the Palomar Health District Board, Czerwonka led a bipartisan Board of Directors for three terms as Chairperson. During her tenure, Palomar Health saw the expansion of behavioral health services, coordinated care models for homeless individuals, and the expansion of forensic health services. Czerwonka also oversaw the hiring of the current hospital CEO, Diane Hansen.

"Dara's professionalism was recognized by being elected three times by fellow trustees as chair of the Palomar Board," says McNamara. "Her accomplishments were many, but I am very impressed by her financial savvy that led to $50 million in taxpayer savings and stabilized the fiscal health of Palomar. This is precisely the kind of creative, proven leadership we need on City Council now as we face our pandemic-driven fiscal crisis in the City of Escondido."
