First Hiking Guide to Focus Exclusively on Franklin Mountains State Park Now Available

Support Texas State Parks by purchasing a Franklin Mountains State Park guide. Half Day Hikes donates 50% of the proceeds they receive from the sale of each guide back to the park.

EL PASO, TX, September 22, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Half Day Hikes announces the second addition to its Texas State Parks hiking guide series: Franklin Mountains State Park. This new guide includes hiking tips, detailed maps, highlights, and full-color photos of 16 hikes within Franklin Mountains State Park, the largest urban state park in the country, located in El Paso, Texas.

The pocket-sized "trail buddy" is small enough to toss in a daypack, yet informative enough to plan a safe and enjoyable trip. Hikes are rated according to difficulty, range from 1 to 10 miles in distance, and most can be completed in roughly half a day or less, depending on personal fitness levels and hiking pace.

"The Half Day Hikes guides are a valuable resource for anyone planning to get out and enjoy the trails," said Jenny Fuller, co-founder of Half Day Hikes. "With over 100 miles of multi-use trails to choose from, we selected 16 of our favorite hikes that highlight the best the park has to offer."

Featured hikes include exploring an old tin mine dating back to the early 1900s, watching incredible sunsets from the Upper Sunset Trail, hiking to the B-36 Bomber crash site overlook, and the signature hike to the summit of North Franklin Mountain at 7,192 feet.

The Franklin Mountains State Park guidebook is separated into three sections with trails accessible from:

Tom Mays Unit (Park Headquarters)
Tin Mine Unit
McKelligon Canyon and Smugglers Pass Units

"By purchasing a Half Day Hikes guide, visitors support Texas State Parks as we donate 50% of the proceeds from the sale of each guide, back to the park to fund ongoing management and maintenance of hiking trails. It's our way of giving back for the great enjoyment we receive from the parks as avid hikers and campers," said Robert Fuller, co-founder of Half Day Hikes.

The Franklin Mountains State Park hiking guide can be purchased on Amazon or at the park visitor center. It is the second guidebook published by Half Day Hikes. The series also includes Big Bend Ranch State Park and soon to be published Lost Maples State Natural Area.
