Pandemic, Climate Change, Social Media, Bullying, Anxiety And Lockdowns - Selfie Videos And Selfie Films Wanted For The Selfie Project Presented By Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein is an award winning Selfie Filmmaker, Positive Psychologist and podcaster who helps us overcome anxiety and alienation through multiple media channels.

WILMINGTON, NC, August 29, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, more than any other time in history, it is young people who represent our hopes for the future. They have and will continue to bear the brunt of climate change, social media bullying, lockdowns, school shootings and the inability to attend classes, proms and graduation ceremonies due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein hopes to give our young people a real voice. To that end, she has announced a new collection of films on the SelfieFilmmakers.com site. Her hope is to create a video historical record of the effects of the pandemic on people of all ages. The public will help create this historical record via selfie videos and selfie films. Members of the public who are 13 and older can submit their selfie videos or selfie films for the project. The collection is available at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com.

Dr. Holstein is actively seeking selfie videos and selfie films for the following categories:

Pandemic
Climate Change
Social Media
Anxiety
Lockdowns
Crushes
Bullying
Moving
Friends
Voting
Homework
Secrets
Humor
Sharing Feelings
Asking For Help
Creating Drama

and many more. New categories are currently being added to the project. Categories can be created if a submitted video or film does not fit into the categories currently available. Contact Dr. Holstein for more details.

Dr. Holstein comments: "What does one do to stay sane when the world is struggling with a Pandemic that is invading everyone's way of life? One way to stay healthy, emotionally, is to make lemons into lemonade. One way I have been doing this and encouraging others to come and join me is to become a Historian of the Pandemic. Who better to record the actual happenings, both tragic and at times uplifting, that are going on around us than us?

"We can record selfie films and videos of the moment. In 1918 the technology went as far as photos and some films. Most people couldn't afford or know how to use those devices. Now just about everyone has a cell phone or a smartphone or an easy to use video recorder.

"It has become my mission to encourage each person to do some recording, whether one asks the 4 year old down the block what he misses during the pandemic or one interviews a grandmother about how this pandemic is the same or different from what she remembers her grandparents told her about the pandemic of 1918.

"I'm so excited about this project as it makes us all special in a new way. We have a chance to record history and historians in the future will benefit from our information.

"I am looking for more temporary historians to help with this project. One young lady, Julia Gesner, is already working on the Pandemic History Project with me. Here is what she has to say: 'I plan to show how various age groups and professions have been affected by the pandemic through a series of films and possibly one big documentary. Whether it be school or the work field, everyone has been impacted by the pandemic in some type of way. Through a cross section of interviews, news clips and personal stories, we will see how the COVID-19 pandemic is one for the history books!"

Dr. Holstein's cutting edge presentations, most recently based on the Covid-19 pandemic issues, can be found on both Youtube, Vimeo and on the Roku channel and Amazon Fire TV, titled as 'The Enchanted Self Presents'. Many of Dr. Holstein's short Selfie films are available on Amazon, released by MRG Collective, title: The Selfie Project, Volume 1.

Dr. Holstein recently created The Selfie Showcase, a new project emerging from The Selfie Project, that allows young people to voice their opinions on subjects that matter to young people. She is now accepting submissions from the public for the "Selfie Showcase" and is actively seeking change-makers and mental health professionals to appear on her monthly video podcasts.

The Selfie Showcase allows kids, teens, and young adults ages 13 to 18 to candidly express their concerns, worries, observations and possible solutions by creating selfie videos or films around important subjects, using a smartphone. Dr. Holstein's mission is to help rectify, in a number of ways, some of the issues young people face by giving them a chance to engage with others in meaningful ways about the anxiety and stress they must grapple with constantly.

Selected participants may appear on the Selfie Project Channel, available on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3uaOTcYF70z5CpBh11VoUQ. They will also appear in the Selfie Showcase on SelfieFilmmakers.com. They will receive a certificate of merit and may be invited to be on Holstein's monthly podcast or perhaps be a part of her next film. Full details, rules for submission and helpful hints can be accessed at the Selfie Filmmakers site at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com/instructions.
