Extra Space Asia, the region's leading self-storage provider, participated in a two-month-long initiative in collaboration with Latteria Mozzarella Bar, a local Italian restaurant that offers traditional Italian cuisine, and Food from The Heart, an independent non-profit organization, to support local businesses and provide daily meals for those residing at Sunlove Abode.
The recent global pandemic, COVID-19, has completely changed the landscape of life, as most have known it to be. Social norms, such as shaking hands and embracing one another, are now frowned upon. Lockdowns have been implemented in many countries, causing economies to come to a grinding halt.
The Singapore government warned that the impacts of COVID-19 may last for a year or more, affecting individuals and businesses. In unprecedented times such as these, it is even more crucial for everyone to practice kindness and be compassionate towards one another.
Giving Back to Society
In April 2020, Extra Space Asia partnered with Latteria Mozzarella Bar and Food from The Heart to provide 200 heartwarming lunch boxes daily to Sunlove Abode for Intellectually Infirmed for a period of two months. To date, Extra Space Asia has contributed over 10,750 meals and 2,900 homemade cookies to Sunlove Abode.
Sunlove Abode is a charity home for the intellectually-disabled - an organization that is committed to providing care for the less fortunate regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or social status.
Through this initiative, Extra Space Asia hopes to lend a helping hand to support local businesses and at the same time, to do what they can to bring a smile to the residents’ faces at Sunlove Abode.
As group volunteering is currently not permitted in most non-profit organisations, Extra Space Asia has since adapted and adjusted their CSR plans accordingly. Upcoming plans would include diverse forms of corporate giving and community-centric initiatives to give back to society in an effort to make a positive impact on the various charitable causes in Singapore.
