Camelback Subaru Works to End Hunger in Local Community

Phoenix Dealership Donates Nearly 100K Meals to St. Mary's Food Bank

PHOENIX - May 13, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Camelback Subaru is making an effort to end hunger in the Phoenix community, and they are calling on locals to join them in their efforts. So far, the dealership has donated 98,094 meals to St. Mary's Food Bank through Feeding America, but they don't want the donations to stop there. For every Subaru they sell now through May 31, 2020, they will donate 100 meals to the food bank in the car purchaser’s name.

Camelback Subaru is also collecting non-perishable food items at the dealership. There are donation boxes set up inside the store, and food can also be dropped off through the service department or at the front desk. The most needed items include:

·       Peanut Butter

·       Canned Ravioli

·       Canned Protein (chicken, tuna, etc.)

·       Canned Fruits (no sugar added or packed in 100% fruit juice)

·       Canned Vegetables (low or no sodium)

·       Dry or Canned Beans (low sodium)

·       Cereal (wholegrain or 100% wheat - boxed)

Lack of consistent access to adequate food is a problem 2 million Arizonans are faced with every year. In Arizona, nearly 30% of the population is considered working poor, living on wages that barely cover housing and other basic necessities. With little money to spare for food, many in the community often go without meals or have no other choice than to purchase the cheapest, sometimes expired, groceries to feed themselves and their families.

If you would like to become a Camelback Difference Maker and help battle these statistics, please make a donation at the dealership or join the online fund drive at Bitly.com/CamelbackSubaruFoodDonation.

All money raised goes directly to St. Mary's Food Bank, and just $1 allows the non-profit to provide seven meals. You will also receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit through your Arizona tax return when you complete the proper forms for donating to a Qualifying Charitable Organization.

$5   Provides 35 nutritious meals for food-insecure children, families and seniors.
$25 Fills an emergency food box for a family living in poverty.
$50 Provides lunch for more than 300 low-income school children.
$75 144 meals in weekend food backpacks for children who don't have enough food at home.
$100 Feeds a low-income family of four for nearly two months (700 meals).
$400 Provides 2,800 meals to hungry families throughout Arizona.
