Coming sales losses tied to Covid-19 have Duke Energy cutting costs, but layoffs are not in the picture for now

Duke Energy Corp. reported first-quarter net income of $899 million, or $1.24 per diluted share, on revenue totaling $5.12 billion in the just-completed quarter. That compares with net income of $900 million, $1.24 a diluted share, in the same quarter a year ago.
