The #StopTheSpread Movement Connects At-Risk Patients With Telemedicine

By: Issuewire

If you're not well, stay home. Find telemedicine care near you at ww.sts19.com

New Braunfels, Apr 7, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - The #StopTheSpread movement, launched by Healthy In My Community, encourages individuals to stay home and connect with physicians who provide telemedicine care in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Healthy In my Community has partnered with the Practicing Physicians of America to create a national network of physicians who are available to provide telemedicine care.

Hospitals are overwhelmed, urgent care clinics are unsafe, and medical workers on the front lines are exposed to increasing numbers of contagious patients daily. The double-edged effect is that patients who need care for COVID-19 are waiting too long to seek care for fear of contracting the virus in a hospital or clinic, and patients who need care for non-COVID related issues cannot connect with providers.

As the nation heads into what are predicted to be the worst weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine will become crucial to the nation's healthcare infrastructure. By connecting with a virtual care provider, patients with early COVID-19 symptoms can quickly receive guidance to take proactive steps that will aid recovery. Additionally, patients who need medical consultation for issues like infections, intestinal discomfort, migraines, or other non-emergency conditions can receive medical care without creating an additional burden on healthcare providers.

Healthy In My Community's Safe Medical Care Fund on GoFundME allows individuals to "Pay it Forward" by making a small contribution. Their message - "If you're not well, stay home. Find a physician who can help at www.sts19.com, then pay it forward by making a donation so that others can find the same help." Funds are used to raise awareness and to help individuals afford their care.
