National Report by AATOD Supports Medically Assisted Addiction Treatment One San Diego Rehab Offers

By: Issuewire

Although many addiction treatment centers don’t support Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT, for short), national associations regard it as the number-one therapy for the successful recovery from opioid dependence.

Irvine, Jan 14, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Addiction is a widespread crisis sweeping mercilessly across the United States. It seems that no matter who you are or where you reside, you know someone who is (or was once) addicted to an illicit substance.

With addiction touching the lives of most Americans and few cutting-edge treatment modalities utilized for it, Medically Assisted Treatment is proving to be a great success for many people.

A report by the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence stressed the importance of accepting MAT into the realm of rehabilitation in a recent report.

The AATOD states: "the nation continues to grapple with unceasing opioid-related deaths and a changing epidemic." They also mentioned that the MAT should be the "first-line" addiction treatment modality used when helping those with addiction to Opioids recover from their dependence.

The AATOD mentions a long history of resistance of Medically Assisted Treatment by those in the psychiatric and addiction treatment field. They state that insufficient third-party funding has gone into the efficacy research of certain medicines, therefore leading to little public and professional recognition. Little widespread information about the benefits of MAT has also proved to be an inhibiting factor.

Unfortunately, not many southern California rehab centers offer medically assisted treatment. However, Healthy Life Recovery, an addiction treatment center in San Diego, California, is ahead of the curve.

Healthy Life Recovery offers multiple forms of medically assisted treatment, including the sublocade shot.

The sublocade shot is an FDA-approved treatment option for those struggling with opioid addiction. On Healthy Life Recovery's website, they state that this medication works as "an "antagonist" against opioids. It blocks the narcotic effects of opioids like heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl. It helps clients to mitigate cravings and the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. It has been proven to increase the success rate of behavioral therapies. It allows addicts to focus on recovery and concentrate on their counseling sessions."

Chemically blocking the effects of drugs like heroin and hydrocodone can help lessen the behavioral and psychological dependence in addicts that usually reinforced by the reoccurring reward of a high. Not only this but the sublocade shot, along with other methods of treatment, such as the medication Naltrexone, is often covered by insurance companies. Of course, this depends on a rehab patient's insurance plan.

In the past, the biggest reason for the resistance of MAT for Opioid Use disorder was not based on organic lack of popularity, but instead on legislative and government lack of support in its legal endeavors. Now, however, with the recent backing by the FDA, MAT is gaining more extensive support across the United States by both the public and professional providers.

With support for MAT gaining momentum across the United States, perhaps this relatively-new treatment modalities will prove worlds helpful for addiction treatment, saving lives across the nation.
