School Speech Therapist and fitness enthusiast opens Elite Edge Gym Altoona.

Altoona, Jan 4, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - A fitness franchise known for its cardiovascular and barbell strength training classes is opening its first location in Altoona and its Ninth in Iowa.

Elite Edge Transformation Center is renovating 501 8th st Sw, Altoona, Iowa 50009 for a new Altoona Gym across the street from Caseys and Hy Vee.

Joe Brammer, Elite Edge Transformation Center founder, former UFC fighter and best-selling Author said the fitness industry is transitioning to barbell strength training focused, group-style training that combines a community-social aspect with "tried and true strength training."

"After being a client for several years, I decided to follow my passion and become a franchisee of Elite Edge and we already have 50 clients signed up for our new Altoona location opening in a few months," said Kristy Soto, an Elite Edge Client who has now become a franchisee.

The 60-minute, Strength training, and fat loss concept aims to help members lose body fat, build muscle and meet overall fitness goals in a short amount of time, she said.

Participants burn from 500 to 1,000 calories per 60-minute training session, using a variety of equipment including barbells, rowing machines, TRX suspension training, kettlebells, punching bags, dumbbells, prowler sleds, aerodyne bikes, battle ropes, and nutrition counseling with custom diet programs.

Elite Edge Transformation Center, which launched its first gym in Waukee, Ia., in 2010, now includes more than 10 locations in the United States.

The fitness franchise is on track to open 20 locations by 2021.

Soto said Elite Edge is "a great model" for both everyday fitness clients and athletes.

"Elite Edge's focus is on having fun, getting people results and amazing every client from the time you walk into the door, the locations themselves, the quality of the gym equipment, the quality of the coaches," she said. "The trainers all have degrees in multiple certifications, but we like to call them coaches because the difference between a coach and a trainer is a coach knows how to get more out of you than you can get out of yourself and that goes a lot deeper than just training someone on exercises."

Elite Edge Transformation Center Altoona is scheduled to open in late January or early February.
