By now you’ve probably heard about the miraculous benefits of CBD. Research even shows that it could even help with ADHD and anxiety in children. Does this mean that anyone, regardless of age, can get their hands on it? Not really.

The guidelines on the age limit for purchasing CBD aren’t clearly established. The age requirement to buy CBD varies from state to state.

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. This system is responsible for immune function, mood, sleep patterns, appetite, and pain perception. Research shows that CBD can help with anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and inflammation. One study even suggests that CBD can help ease symptoms of ADHD.

So far CBD has been proven safe for children. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved a cannabidiol-based medication used to treated severe forms of epilepsy in patients two years old or younger.

Currently, CBD is unregulated due in part that it doesn’t contain THC. Also, you don’t need a prescription from a doctor to buy or use CBD. Therefore, there is no set age restriction for purchasing and using CBD. However, some local state jurisdictions and CBD companies set their own age limits.

For a few CBD companies, the age limit for purchasing hemp-derived products is 18. But for the most part, most CBD products found on store shelves don’t have an age restriction.

In addition, in states where cannabis is legal, the purchasing age ranges from 18 to 21. According to some local mandates,  some smoke shops in the country won’t sell to anyone under 18.

Age requirements for CBD products are a grey area. But at the moment, there is no federal mandate that prohibits parents from giving CBD to their children. In fact, the best CBD brands are legally marketed to children, adults, and even pets
