Get to know Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Luminita D. Alavanza, who serves patients in Victorville, Corona, Menifee, and Escondido, California.

New York City, Nov 8, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Luminita is a certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner whose day starts with prayers for her family, patients, and work-family. She is currently in practice at Inland Pain Specialists in Victorville, Corona, Menifee, and Escondido, California. Specializing in pain management and psychiatric wellness, she provides her services to underserved populations in the Inland Empire communities.

Inland Pain Specialists consists of centers for pain and addiction medicine with four convenient locations throughout the State of California. These centers offer many options for pain relief and create an individualized treatment plan for each patient. The treatment plan may include many facets from Inland Pain Specialists' comprehensive whole-person care programs, such as physical or aqua therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, or specialty referrals, in addition to interventional procedures and more conventional pain management modalities. Each patient treatment is unique and tailored to assist in the concepts of Resolve, Restore, Rejuvenate. It is my pleasure and goal to serve and assist each patient to attain health, wellness, and a maximum acceptable level of quality of life.

Prior to her current endeavors, Luminita worked at psychiatric behavioral health outpatient and inpatient facilities, providing ECT specialized therapy. She holds several certificates in CPR, gerontological nursing, psychiatric and mental health nursing, nursing education, and advanced practice nursing.

Believing that therapeutic communication is essential to developing rapport between practitioner and patient, she strives to make a difference in her patients' lives through warm and genuine communication. She understands that her patients want to be heard, seen, and cared for as individuals. For this reason, she strives to be a source of inspiration, a light of hope, as well as an educational source to all that she meets throughout her day.

When asked why she chose a career in nursing, Luminita answered that she wanted to be the change and a role model of hope, health, and wellness in her community. Now, with years of experience in her field, she attributes her success to God, prayer, and working with Dr. Nikan Khatibi, who is an excellent physician, mentor, and preceptor to students. She has always worked in the hospital setting, so she started out organizing medical records, followed by an administrative position, and then as a medical record coder and biller. When she saw how the nurses interacted with patients, she realized that she did not want to spend her career behind a desk. She wanted to help people hands-on, be the change and inspiration in her community.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Lanao School of Science and Technology in the Philippines in 2010, Luminita relocated to the United States where she went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing Health Education (MSN/EDU) degree from the University of Phoenix in 2013. She also holds a degree in gerontology nursing (AGNP) from South University.

In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Psychiatric Nurse Association.

Gerontology is the study of the social, cultural, psychological, cognitive, and biological aspects of aging. An Adult-Gerontology nurse practitioner is a nurse practitioner who specializes in continuing and comprehensive healthcare for adults across the lifespan from adolescence to older aging adults.

Born in Romania, Luminita speaks Romanian and English fluently. Her favorite place to vacation in the Hawaiian Islands and her favorite movie genres is comedy, action, and Disney. In her spare time, she enjoys cross-stitching, cooking, reading, biking, and hiking. Luminita's most treasured time is spent with her three girls, family, and dear friends. She also volunteers her time at church, school, and community health and wellness fairs. Her favorite quote and personal motto are from Mahatma Gandhi "Be the change that you wish to see in the world".
