Karen Appleby, RN, a Registered Nurse in Texas

By: Issuewire

New York City, Nov 8, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - As a registered nurse, Karen serves patients in the State of Texas. She specializes in nurse education, which consists of the theoretical and practical training provided to nurses with the purpose to prepare them for their duties as nursing care professionals. Throughout her career, she has served as a CPR / First Aid Instructor at Fort Sam Houston military base, helping to train rangers and special forces.

When she was just a child, Karen's father was hospitalized. She saw what nurses did and how they were capable of impacting people's lives in such different ways. From then on, she knew that a career in nursing was what she was meant to pursue. Even after having a bad experience with a nurse during her father's care, she wanted to prove to herself and to her mother that not all nurses were like that. She wanted to break the stigma.

In 1986, she earned her nursing degree from the San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas. Now, with over three decades of experience, Karen states that her personal experiences and life's circumstances were always a driving factor for her. Her faith, dedication, internal drive, and understanding that everything comes full circle are what have helped her to get to where she is in her successful career.

A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients' symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
