The International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (IAMCP) is delighted to congratulate the winners in the 2019 Global Partner-to-Partner (P2P) Awards Program, who were announced at a special ceremony during the Microsoft Inspire conference in Las Vegas on July 16. In total, 59 entries were received from 44 companies across 28 IAMCP chapters. Submissions were reviewed by judges and scored on a 4-point scale based on the following criteria:

  • How well the scenario reflected a mature Partner
  • The maturity of the P2P experience
  • Innovation in delivering a customer solution

Entries were received from APAC, EMEA, and the AMERICAS, and winners were judged for gold, silver and bronze level awards in each region, with one Worldwide Winner – the Mint Group of South Africa. Submitted applications included cloud computing, marketing innovation, collaboration and messaging, data analytics and business intelligence offerings.

Said David Gersten, IAMCP Americas Vice-President, “I am thrilled to have received almost 60 entries this year. The stories, in combination, involved over 120 partners from around the world. I am so proud of every partner that submitted an entry, became a finalist and of our winners. Congratulations to the Mint Group for being Worldwide Winner. Your innovative solution showed your depth of mature partnering and serves as an inspiration to partners around the globe.”

AI on Azure for an Intelligent Student Campus

The winning Mint Group’s project was devised to address a number of issues for a tertiary university education provider in a rural community, The University of Venda (Univen) - a South African comprehensive university, located in Thohoyandou in the Limpopo province. The University, which serves 16,000 students, had been plagued with riots from outsiders, dwindling student pass rates, and a lack of data to address student performance and ensure the successful allocation of government funding aimed at fostering economic empowerment.

The solution comprised the creation of the Intelligent Campus through the application of Artificial Intelligence to address challenges and unlock opportunities. To tackle the issues experienced, Univen partnered with Mint Group to utilize the benefits of AI on the Azure platform and enable:

  • Strict student access control through facial recognition across the University
  • Student tracking and verification across the campus
  • Sentiment analysis within classrooms to correlate sentiment to student performance
  • Attendance tracking to correlate attendance numbers to student pass rates

Since the launch of the successful pilot at Univen, other universities are following suit and Mint has been in negotiations with 6 other universities with one signed up for a pilot which will commence in Q1 FY20.

“Mint Group is proud to be recognized as the Worldwide and EMEA winner of the IAMCP P2P awards for 2019. We champion the IAMCP ethos in South Africa and across the African continent through valuable partnerships via joint solution implementations, best practices, learning and knowledge sharing. Mint believes in the strength of growing together in the partner ecosystem with the shared outcome of delivering value to our customers.” - Sugeshni Subroyen, Head of Marketing – Mint Group

The IAMCP will be featuring the winners and their innovative solutions in an eBook, to be released later this year.

“When an organization submits an entry to the IAMCP P2P Awards, that in itself is already a celebration of a partner-to-partner success. Sure, it feels good to win, but it is in the submission that winning begins. This is clearly one of the initiatives I cherish the most. It truly reflects the DNA of this association and celebrates successful stories of partners working together all over the globe. Partnering, and doing it at a broad international scale, is what guides our every move. Congratulations to every single one of the participants, and in particular to the winners!” Sergio Baptista, IAMCP International President
