(APC), company leader in Automated Parking Systems and advanced parking solutions, announces the start of its most recent automated parking installation in Hanover, New Hampshire; the first parking solution of its kind in the Town and the Upper Valley.
The automated parking system will replace the sixteen surface stalls that originally served the 150-year-old Bridgman Building located in the heart of Hanover's commercial center, and provide the additional parking required for the newly 30,000 square feet, four-story addition that is currently being built behind the historic building.
"This is a very constrained site and an innovative fill-in project," town-planning staffers wrote in notes for a Planning Board meeting.
Automated Parking Corp. provided a tailored Automated Parking solution to Architect Christopher Kennedy and development firm Connecticut River Capital, a solution that allowed to park 38 vehicles in the footprint of nine conventional surface stalls.
"Other owners downtown have found that the biggest challenge to doing something [downtown] is fulfilling the parking requirement," said Geoff Colla Principal and Founder of the development firm.
Installation of the customized bidirectional parking system (also known as "puzzle") provides a creative and innovative solution for future developments where space, historic preservation, and parking requirements may be hindering real estate and economic development opportunities.
According to a previous article published by staff writer Rob Wolfe in the Valley News, Hanover's Planning and Zoning Director Robert Houseman considered that the project "represented a great example of downtown infill, fully complying with the town's regulations and bringing a creative parking solution to Hanover and the Upper Valley".
Automated Parking Corp. will be deploying in July 2019 to join the ongoing building construction, which broke ground in the summer of 2018 and is scheduled to complete this fall.
