A Brooklyn native, Dr Guirguis is the son of the founder of The Guirguis Obstetrics & Gynecology Group - Dr Fayez Guirguis. Dr. Guirguis earned his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Boston, and continued his education at SUNY-Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where he earned his medical degree. He then went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut and is affiliated with Hartford Hospital.
Since joining the Guirguis Group practice in July 2011, Dr Guirguis has become certified in robotic surgery. He is especially interested in minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery. As a proponent of the latest, evidence-based women's medical care, he keeps current on all modern thinking and technologies.
Dr Guirguis is board-certified in obstetrics and gynaecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynaecologists (OB-GYNS) and offers continuing certification to OB-GYNS in the United States and Canada. Board certification is a voluntary process for those physicians who choose to pursue certification.
Dr Guirguis is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. To become a Fellow, a candidate must become certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, an independent organization, and then nominated to the College by another Fellow.
