HARTFORD, Conn. - May 20, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

The Jordan Porco Foundation is partnering with The Benny Fund to provide 4 What’s Next mental health programming to qualifying youth-serving schools and organizations.

“The 4 What’s Next program provides students with the tools necessary to deal with stress and build resiliency, which is crucial to improving mental health in our youth. We are proud to support an organization and program that is affecting positive change and saving lives in our communities,” said Holly Neiweem, Founder of The Benny Fund.

4 What’s Next is a five-module primary prevention program of the Jordan Porco Foundation that builds psychological resiliency in high school students by giving them the tools to handle stress and distress now and in their future. The core of the program is the 4 What’s Next Framework, which teaches students how to effectively handle distress by “reaching in” and utilizing independent coping strategies, “reaching out” by seeking and accepting help outside of themselves, or a combination of the two. This process is followed by an assessment of how well their chosen coping method is working and encourages them to reevaluate if needed.

“It’s critical we join forces to meet the mental health needs of today’s youth. Our partnership with The Benny Fund creates a unique and vital opportunity to help youth at more schools and organizations across the state and country,” said Marisa Giarnella-Porco, Co-Founder and CEO of the Jordan Porco Foundation.

Interested schools and organizations must apply at this link, by the deadline of June 15, 2019, for review and consideration. The Jordan Porco Foundation is currently accepting applications from schools and organizations. Approved applicants will receive grant funding, to provide 4 What’s Next programming, at no cost, for a one-year period with unlimited use within that timeframe.

About The Benny Fund

The Benny Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving mental health and preventing suicide through advocacy and education. They strive to ensure mental health is spoken about openly at our dinner tables, in our schools, and as a community. Their mission is to make mental health visible and a priority while working to end stigma and silence. They do this through mental health advocacy campaigns, such as Benny’s Run and Project Love, and by providing funding for mental health and suicide prevention education programs. Additionally, they award scholarships to high school students. The organization was formed by Holly Neiweem after the suicide of her 24-year-old brother, Benjamin Neiweem. This organization is their way to remember and pay tribute to his adventurous and loving spirit. The Benny Fund’s message is one of hope and compassion, reminding you that you are not alone. We are a strong community, fighting to make mental health a priority for everyone. Learn more at bennyfund.org.
