FRESNO, Calif. - February 22, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

California is in the middle of an unusually wet winter—leading to surprising amounts of snow and ice. Areas in Central California, the Valley, and Big Bear have seen especially high levels of precipitation. For California drivers who are unaccustomed to driving in snowy conditions, this extreme weather poses some obvious health and safety risks—and indeed, there have already been many accidents. In a new statement to the press, AA Accident Attorneys comments on California’s unusual winter and on the best ways for drivers to stay safe.

“First and foremost, don’t risk driving through snowy weather if you can help it,” AA Accident Attorneys says. “If you have to be somewhere then you have to be somewhere—but if you can wait it out until conditions improve, that’s even better.”

AA Accident Attorneys goes on to list some additional safe driving tips. For one, the firm cautions drivers to take things slower than normal. Increased following times are also recommended. “You won’t be able to brake as quickly as normal, so leave five or six seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you,” the firm advises.

Another tip is to be careful going up snow-covered hills. “Accelerate before you reach the hill, building a little momentum as you approach it,” AA Accident Attorneys says. “Once you are over the hill, take your foot off the accelerator and let that momentum carry you to the bottom.”

Drivers are also advised not to accelerate too quickly. “Pounding on the gas pedal will result in skidding,” AA Accident Attorneys states. “Apply a lighter touch and accelerate more gradually.”

For those who are in accidents, whether due to the snow or otherwise, AA Accident Attorneys encourages legal representation. “Our firm represents those who are injured in accidents in California and beyond, and we always provide our clients with aggressive representation,” the firm states. “We will help you get the compensation and care you need, and we only get paid if you get paid!”

The bottom line, according to AA Accident Attorneys: “Stay safe in the snow—and if you do need to hire a car accident attorney, our firm is reachable around the clock.”
