The St. Joe Community Foundation Continues Grants From $1 Million Pledge Made After Hurricane Michael

The St. Joe Community Foundation (“Foundation”) continues to provide grants from its $1 Million pledge towards relief efforts for the region of Northwest Florida affected by Hurricane Michael. The Foundation partners with local entities and government officials who are recovering from the effects of the hurricane to identify the greatest and most immediate needs within the communities.

Of the $1 Million pledged towards relief and recovery efforts, the Foundation has now approved grants totaling $411,570 to local organizations in need. Recent grant awards include donations of $25,000 each to the Florida State University Panama City Foundation for the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund and the Gulf Coast State College Foundation, both of which assist students, faculty and staff with essential needs. Girls, Inc. also received a donation of $25,000 to assist with restoration efforts of their Panama City location. Longleaf Outreach received $7,500 to purchase appliances and furniture for new women’s shelter locations after the previous facilities were condemned due to the hurricane.

The Foundation also awarded $10,000 grants to each of the following: Hope Panhandle, Inc., which provides supplies and hot meals to residents and first responders, the City of Lynn Haven’s Hurricane Michael Relief Fund to sponsor the City’s Hometown Thanksgiving event, Anchorage Children’s Home to help offset rental expenses for its Youth Homeless Transitional programs, the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Panama City, to purchase relief supplies and materials. The First United Methodist Church of Panama City also received an additional grant of $9,070 to purchase preschool classroom supplies and scholarships helping to resume childcare activities allowing many families the opportunity to return to work.

“The Foundation continues to receive grant applications from local entities who assist with relief and recovery efforts,” said Jorge Gonzalez, The St. Joe Company President and Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of The St. Joe Community Foundation. Mr. Gonzalez added, “We are honored to support many worthy needs within our community and encouraged by the individuals affected by these donations. We look forward to the positive impact these organizations will make on our region as the area continues to rebound from the hurricane.”
