What is the Future of Pharmaceuticals?

Futurist Jack Uldrich shares his insights on the future of healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry at two events this month.

PHOENIX - February 13, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

Best-selling author and global futurist Jack Uldrich is in Phoenix, AZ today to share his research and insights on the future of healthcare and pharmaceuticals with leaders at Symphony Health. Uldrich makes it his mission to help healthcare leaders address and embrace transformational changes in health care being driven by emerging technology.

During a keynote to a national nursing group in 2016 Uldrich said, "A decade ago, gene sequencing cost one hundred and fifty million dollars, not very affordable. But gene sequencing technology is getting cheaper every quarter (every four months) since then. With that math in place, by 2020 it's going to be more expensive for you to flush your toilet than to have your gene sequenced. That's how rapidly technology is moving."

In addition to rapid advancements in genomics, Uldrich also illustrates how continued advances in information technologies, biotechnology, nanotechnology, robotics, the internet of things, regenerative medicine, 3D printing, and big data will radically transform the healthcare industry in the decade ahead.

Uldrich will then focus on why health care professionals must embrace the concept of unlearning in order to achieve future success. Hailed as “America’s Chief Unlearning Officer,” by Businessweek, Uldrich will conclude by reviewing specific habits, customs, beliefs and ideas that healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals can — and must — unlearn to survive and thrive in the future.

Earlier this month, Uldrich was in Montreal, Canada to share his insights on the future of the pharmaceutical industry at an event for a large global pharmaceutical provider. There, he talked about how emerging technologies such as 3d printed medicine could transform how medicine is prescribed, manufactured, and delivered in the future. This was one his many examples of how new technology will force us to think about the future differently.

As a specialist in healthcare trends, Uldrich has addressed dozens of healthcare associations and hospitals, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Audiology, the American Academy of Neurologists, Bausch and Lomb, Boston Scientific, Alcetel-Lucent/Verizon Forum on Wireless Healthcare, United Healthcare, IASIS Healthcare, Allina Hospitals, The Healthcare Trustees of New York,  St. Jude Medical, among others.
