Bank Of England Hikes Rates By 25bps In 7-2 Vote; First Increase In A Decade; Pound Plunges

The BOE - which had telegraphed the move extensively in recent months despite some dovish misgivings - finally pulled the trigger, and raised rates by 25bps to 0.5% in order to curb the effect of high inflation.
