Super Mario Odyssey launches tomorrow

The markets extended its gains during the midday with the Dow climbing 82 points to 23,412. Nasdaq eased a point to 6,561.


Nintendo's Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch launches tomorrow. Odyssey is a 3D open world adventure game rather than a platformer game like previous Super Mario titles. Mario has a new magical Cappy hat that gives him an array of abilities such as turning into a rocket that bursts through walls to help him in his quest to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.


Tesla has installed a solar power system at a children's hospital in Puerto Rico that lost power during Hurricane Maria. Hospital del Nino serves nearly 3,000 children and has been running on rationed diesel fuel and generators for a month. Solar panels were installed on the hospital roof to generate electricity during the day and store electricity in batteries for use at night.


Twitter has acknowledged that it inadvertently over reported the number of its users for the past three years. The company included between 1 million to 2 million users per quarter from third party applications that it should not have counted. For the second quarter, Twitter said that its monthly active users totaled 326 million rather than 328 million.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 9 to 8 on the NYSE while decliners barely edged out advancers by a slim margin on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 rose 4 points to 2,561. Bitcoin soared $174 to $5,862.
