Company Update: PepsiCo Inc (NYSE:PEP) – Quaker recalls quinoa bars due to Listeria worry

[Reuters] – The Quaker Oats Company, a unit of PepsiCo Inc, on Monday announced a voluntary U.S. recall of a small quantity of its Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars due to the possible risk of Listeria contamination. Quaker is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to investigate the issue, a company spokeswoman said. Read more on this. Pepsico, Inc. (PEP) , with a current market cap of $150.41B, began trading this morning at $103.98. Looking at today’s trading action, the company’s one day range from $103.63 to $104.65 and has traded between $76.48 and $106.94 over the past 12 months. Priced at 22.03x this year’s forecasted earnings, PEP shares are relatively inexpensive compared to the industry’s 22.25x forward p/e ratio. And for dividend hunters, the company pays shareholders $3.01 per share annually in dividends, yielding 2.89%. In a review of the consensus earnings estimate this quarter, 21 sell-side analysts are looking at $1.29 per share, which would be $0.03 worse than the year-ago quarter and a $0.04 sequential decrease. Furthermore, our analysis shows the full-year EPS estimate to be $4.73, which would be a $0.16 improvement when compared to the last year’s annual results. The quarterly earnings estimate is based on a consensus revenue forecast of the current quarter of $15.38 Billion. If realized, that would be a 3.39% decrease over the year-ago quarter.
